Avocado
The avocado is a fruit tree that belongs to the Lauraceae family and to the species Persea gratissima and Persea americana Mill. Its center of origin is considered to be the high parts of Central and East-Central Mexico, which includes states such as New León, Michoacán, Veracruz and Puebla, as well as the highlands of Guatemala and the Antilles.
The avocado fruit has a high nutritional value, since studies show that every 100 grams of pulp contains 152 calories, 1.6 gr. protein, 15.6 gr. of fat, 4.8 gr. of carbohydrates, as well as calcium, phosphorus, iron and other elements such as thiamin, riboflavin and ascorbic acid. The avocado is classified into three ecological groups or races: the Mexican, Guatemalan and Antillean races.
